When a floating hardwood floor fits.

KONO Estate boards lock together along the edges with a 5G click joint and float over the subfloor. No nails, no glue, and real European oak with a 4 mm wear layer on top.

Floating is the fastest way to put real wood over concrete, existing tile or vinyl, and in condos where nailing is not an option. Without glue, a floating floor is also easier to repair: a damaged board can be replaced instead of chiseled out.

A floating floor needs a flat subfloor and an underlayment, and it feels slightly different from a nailed floor: a little more give and a different sound. A good underlayment closes most of that gap. Installed by our crews, click lock hardwood starts at $12.14 per sqft in the Sacramento area.

Floating (click lock) questions, answered straight.

Can engineered hardwood be floated?

Click boards like KONO Estate are made to float. Tongue and groove boards are usually nailed or glued instead.

Can a click hardwood floor be refinished?

Yes. A 4 mm oak wear layer leaves room for full sanding and refinishing, the same as a nailed floor.

Is click lock hardwood good over concrete?

It is one of the best options: floated over a moisture barrier and underlayment, it needs no glue and no nailing into the slab.
