What the $2.50 /sqft pays for

Break-outTile is bonded to the floor with cement-based thinset, so it does not lift like a plank. It is broken loose with a demolition hammer, piece by piece.
Pry-upNailed boards are pried up and every nail and staple is pulled. Glued boards are scraped off the slab.
GrindingThe thinset or glue left behind is ground off with a diamond cup wheel until the subfloor is flat again. LVP and laminate need a base flat within 3/16 in over 10 ft, or the click joints flex and open over time.
Dust extractionGrinding mortar or concrete releases fine crystalline silica dust. The grinder runs inside a shroud connected to an industrial vacuum with a 99% filter, the setup Cal/OSHA’s silica rule lists for this job, so the dust ends up in the vacuum and not in your house.

Carpet, sheet vinyl, LVP, and laminate lift out without grinding, which is why we remove them free.
