Color groups are a guide: undertones shift with daylight and lamps, and one plank can sit in two groups. Pick up a free sample and look at it on your own floor.
The clear top layer that takes scratches, scuffs and claws. It decides how long the floor looks new, not how thick it feels. 12 mil suits bedrooms, offices and rentals; 20 mil is the commercial spec for kitchens, hallways and pets.
Total plank thickness, attached pad included. A thicker plank feels more solid, sounds less hollow and bridges small subfloor dips better. It does not change scratch resistance: that is the wear layer.
Plank width. Wider planks mean fewer seams across the floor and a calmer room that reads larger; narrower planks look classic and suit small rooms. All our planks are 60 inches long.
Materials per square foot. Installation by our crews in the Sacramento area adds $2.35 per sqft; removal, baseboard and stairs are priced per room.
A collection is one spec (thickness, wear layer, width) in several colors. Mixing colors from one collection keeps the floor height and feel identical between rooms.

What a good bathroom install looks like.
For a bathroom with a tub or shower we recommend one floor: vinyl plank with a rigid SPC core. It is fully waterproof, warmer and softer underfoot than tile, quick to install and easy to clean, and it gives a bathroom the wood look without wood's weakness.
A good bathroom install runs the planks under the toilet rather than cutting around it, and seals the edge along the tub and shower with silicone so water cannot get under the floor. Around the vanity the planks stop at the toe kick under trim. A small bathroom usually takes a single day.
Pick a 20 mil wear layer for family bathrooms and a 12 mil one for guest baths. For a half bath or powder room without a shower, waterproof laminate is also an option. Installed by our crews, bathroom vinyl plank starts at $4.55 per sqft in the Sacramento area.

| KONO Pacific 7" 6 colors | 20 mil | 6.5 mm | 1.5 mm IXPE | $2.80 |
| KONO Summit 10 colors | 20 mil | 8 mm | 1.5 mm IXPE | $3.20 |
| KONO Essentials 6 colors | 12 mil | 5.5 mm | 1.5 mm IXPE | $2.20 |
| KONO Valley 7 colors | 12 mil | 7 mm | 2 mm IXPE | $2.80 |
Kids' and family bathrooms take the hardest use: wet feet, dropped bottles, bath toys. Choose a 20 mil collection there (Pacific or Summit). Guest bathrooms and powder rooms see light traffic, so Essentials or Valley at 12 mil saves money without a real trade-off. If the bathroom opens to a bedroom, running the same plank through both avoids a threshold.
Before the floor goes in, check for soft spots near the toilet and tub: a spongy subfloor there usually means an old leak that needs fixing first. Floating vinyl over a damaged subfloor flexes, and the joints open.
Bathroom flooring questions, answered straight.
What is the best flooring for a bathroom?
For bathrooms with a tub or shower: vinyl plank with an SPC core or tile. Vinyl is warmer, softer and faster to install; tile is harder and colder but just as waterproof.
Can you put vinyl plank in a bathroom?
Yes. SPC vinyl plank is fully waterproof. The installation detail that matters is sealing the edge at the tub and shower.
Can laminate go in a bathroom?
In a powder room without a shower, waterproof laminate works. For full baths we recommend vinyl plank. See waterproof laminate.
