European oak is a white oak: calm, tight grain that takes natural, pale and gray finishes evenly. Red oak is warmer, with a pink-tan cast and bold open grain that hides everyday wear. Both are hard, proven flooring woods.

The layer of real oak on top of the board. It sets how many times the floor can be sanded and refinished: about 2 mm allows a light refinish, 3 to 4 mm allows full ones. It is the difference between a floor you keep for decades and one you replace.

Materials per square foot. Installation by our crews in the Sacramento area adds $4.35 per sqft; removal, baseboard and stairs are priced per room.

A collection is one spec (thickness, wear layer, width) in several colors. Mixing colors from one collection keeps the floor height and feel identical between rooms.

What you give up for the price.

Every color here costs under $7 per square foot and is real engineered oak, not a wood-look print. The lower price comes from a thinner wear layer and character grade, both listed on each board.

KONO Sonoma at $4.99 per sqft is European oak with a 2 mm wear layer and character (ABCD) grade: knots and color variation included, and room for a light refinish later. KONO Heritage at $6.50 is red oak with a 3 mm wear layer and cleaner select grade.

What you keep: real oak you can see and feel, wide 7-1/2 by 75 inch boards, and an engineered core that stays flat in Sacramento heat. Installed by our crews, these floors start at $9.34 per sqft, with removal and baseboard priced per room.
