What the AC rating tells you.
The AC rating is a standard abrasion test for laminate surfaces, from AC1 to AC5. AC4 is rated for heavy residential traffic and light commercial use: kitchens, hallways, kids and dogs.
AC1 and AC2 are for bedrooms and closets, AC3 for most homes, AC4 for busy homes and small offices, AC5 for commercial floors. The rating measures how the surface stands up to abrasion, impact and stains, so it is the best single number for durability.
